Sketches looking awesome as always Mel! I really liked the animation (altough the beginning of the flowersack lacked some weight in my opinion) nice runcycle for your character... can't wait till your short is done!

You rock.. good luck on finishing the short!

Wow... another collection of great stuff, Mel! I love the arm and leg shapes on the old man.... even his arms are bell-bottomed. It's cool to see some of your animation stuff too. All really nice work, man.

You will never finish that animation if you keep sketchig up these awesesomes! I think there is something about 2d animation that makes ya want to go off on distraction drawings...they are always so much fun!

love the cowboy.

and finally some animation to see! I love when that flour sack comes back hanging on the ballon...just him (i'm assuming it was a boy) hanging there is a funny image itself.

I remember a little while ago, you said that you didn't like how CGI animators portrait humans...so I'm just curious how you would draw the humans (and mutants) of the upcoming movie TMNT.

thanks all for the comments much appreciated!

-- Hey Marco!
I actually dont mind character designs in cg movies.Especially cartoony ones as Im more of a cartoony person than that of a realistic person. And I totally look forward to the upcoming turtles movie. Looks great to me!

Heres my two cents ( and its prolly not worth that.) Example Monster House had some good designs for me but didnt fit the "tweenage" feel that the story had. Seemed like the main kid chars were designed for a younger market. ( My opinion ) And I loved the char designs in Incredibles as well as the people designs in Open Season. The ninja turtle "turtle" designs look like they went back to the comic book which I love. the people designs that I saw in the trailers were nicely done but dont know how well they match up with the monsters or turtle designs for me. ( Again only opinion.) As for how I would design em. I only wish I were good enough to work on such a project!!

It's nice to see some of your 2d animation. Although I have to agree with Andy Conroy...finishing your project will be a lot harder if you keep distracting yourself ;) Don't worry I end up doing the same thing with my projects; too many other fun things to do and not enough time for them all.

Lots of Love,
Heather

Wow, so many posts in so short a time! The flow of the pencil in these drawings moves mountains!! I know this is from a previous post, but those action sheets of that cave guy exhibit tremendous character! You can really elucidate the personality on every drawing.

Awesome Mel, as if I expected anything less? Never! Love the variety of characters you're able to conjure up. I can't see your animation as yet, but I'll go to the Provo Library and see if the connection will work there. Can't wait.
