Edit : Pose Practice. Tryin to be looser. Priming up the animation gears
I really should be animating something...I keep sayin that to myself every morning. Feel free to bash me on this as I need to get my ace in gear. WIth that said heres more doodles. My dandy friend Andy was kind enough to lend me his very nice brush pen. First is one I doodled at lunch yesterday and the others of course were from movies. I love movies....

More good stuff Mel. I need to get my Ace in gear too. Keep it up and start bugging me to do the same. Take care.

we all need to get our axe in gear, thats the reason why i'm here. What about animations in b/w? :) Good sketches like always!
that first sketch is craazy! always good to see your sketches.
Awesome stuff!! This guy on top is really cool. You work is amazing, sir.
I love the way you refer to these as 'doodles', when they are so much better than anything I produce when I'm really trying my best!
Great stuff Mel, I'm green with envy as usual!
I WANT ANIMATION!!!! You said to start bugging you. No, time better than the present. Great as usual, Mel.
The jester is hillarious. I love the missing teeth and his chin. The heads are great too. I wish I could just up and sketch a movie character. Amazing talent there.
Nice stuff. Love them gray sketches.
I love the clown-ish jester thing, whatever it be. Do stuff, Mel. That's my advice for you.
Ah, great update Mel! I love the Sinbad drawings.. You rock bigtime!
So now let's see some animation ;)
Hey Mel,
Thanks for checking my blog, I appreciate it. Your new stuff is filled with life as usual. I'm trying to keep up, haha.
Dylan
really appealing drawings.
nice/simplified forms
Yes, animate something!
What about "the case" project?
Great drawings, man! Thanks for the great comments too :)
Ohhh!! I like the second sketches most. Particulary the guy at top right corner. I think it's original and nice. I don't know really why but I find something really interesting in his face! Nice ones, also Tarzar. I really enjoy animation in that movie.
Well, even if you're not animated, these so-called "doodles" are great fun!
hey man aswome stuff as always. i saw your anmiatred short with the guy and the dinosaur. it was aswome. do you like 2d or 3d anmiating better?
thanks all for the very kind words ( and the other ones that motviate me to to take that plunge again...)
Aaron!
Im in love with 2d cause for me you have to be more mindful of your shapes and its just cool to see someone put it down on paper and rock. I love 3d just as much but more for the quickness of it.
Ive always had an anxiety about animating ( which is ridiculous I know ) prolly cause it holds that lil child like magic for me. I cherish it to an unhealty level. Id prolly love it even more if I did it and I know it....sad huh?
Break me off a piece!! I always try and make kids watch Sinbad but they hate it. So no it is what I do to punish them.
I Swear they aren't mine.
Love it! That top one is loaded with personality! You're a machine!!!
Great sketches Mel! Those brush pens are nice and you did a great job with it!
i'll only bust your chops to animate...if you do the same to me, and while your at it could you convince andy to post some sketches as well!
awesome sketches!
Awesome work! THanks for the comments on the blog. Your blog is a definite add to my links. Later bro!

HA ! HA !! THese are wicked AWESOME!
When looking at your stuff it seems I need to get my ace in gear. Awesome stuff Mel!
This is great work man. Nice to see you're always exploring and trying new things. Great talent you are!
dood, you are so ready to animate, you already pose really well...So get on it already...
these are so frikkin cool! and those pose exercises are very inspirational! I know that's one area I struggle with. Do you have any pointers as to how you execute your exercises?
Nice!!! Very very nice Mel. You´re sketches are pretty well resolved.
I like the simplicity and the strong of it.
As always, there is some crazy wicked stuff happening here. I can't keep up, even with just looking!
great.
that 3rd sheet is really fantastic.
You inspire me Mel! Amazing work!
Whoa! This is totally awesome! I really like the basic design shapes.
As always, your awesome dude! My Hero!!!
Oh yeah, Animate something!!! :P
~!WoOtWoOt!~
These are all just great. I like how you can do the loose stuff and tighten up as far as you want!
That is one hot brush pen... ;) Nice pieces.
Did you have any sort of short animation in mind you wanted to do?
Some great sketches man! It's always a treat to see your latest.
Nice studies on top, Mel!! Great poses and movements, really dynamic. Cool!
I find your models very expressive and I'm sure animation will be nice with such comprehention of heavy and shape that you have (I hope this last thing had any sense lol)
Hey Mel,
Long time no see. I sure have missed a lot since leaving for Europe. Glad to see you are keeping up the good works. You've been improving as well.
Hugs,
Heather
These new poses are great, really enjoying their flow, very bubbly and loose, your on the right track my man, where do you get your ideas for poses, do you reference them or just do what you do?
Dylan
All really amazing work !!
Awesome work as usual. Love the character designs.
Your gestural drawings are very good! I like the fact you show your warm up drawings along with your final drawings :D
I feel lame posting as the 48 person...
These are really fun! I think this is a real good way to get ready for some animation! So, lets see it!
