Wheres the color?

Edit : Pose Practice. Tryin to be looser. Priming up the animation gears

I really should be animating something...I keep sayin that to myself every morning. Feel free to bash me on this as I need to get my ace in gear. WIth that said heres more doodles. My dandy friend Andy was kind enough to lend me his very nice brush pen. First is one I doodled at lunch yesterday and the others of course were from movies. I love movies....

Awesome stuff!! This guy on top is really cool. You work is amazing, sir.

I love the way you refer to these as 'doodles', when they are so much better than anything I produce when I'm really trying my best!

Great stuff Mel, I'm green with envy as usual!

I WANT ANIMATION!!!! You said to start bugging you. No, time better than the present. Great as usual, Mel.

The jester is hillarious. I love the missing teeth and his chin. The heads are great too. I wish I could just up and sketch a movie character. Amazing talent there.

Nice stuff. Love them gray sketches.

I love the clown-ish jester thing, whatever it be. Do stuff, Mel. That's my advice for you.

Yes, animate something!
What about "the case" project?

Dave Dick said...

Great drawings, man! Thanks for the great comments too :)

Ohhh!! I like the second sketches most. Particulary the guy at top right corner. I think it's original and nice. I don't know really why but I find something really interesting in his face! Nice ones, also Tarzar. I really enjoy animation in that movie.

Well, even if you're not animated, these so-called "doodles" are great fun!

hey man aswome stuff as always. i saw your anmiatred short with the guy and the dinosaur. it was aswome. do you like 2d or 3d anmiating better?

Unknown said...

thanks all for the very kind words ( and the other ones that motviate me to to take that plunge again...)

Aaron!

Im in love with 2d cause for me you have to be more mindful of your shapes and its just cool to see someone put it down on paper and rock. I love 3d just as much but more for the quickness of it.

Ive always had an anxiety about animating ( which is ridiculous I know ) prolly cause it holds that lil child like magic for me. I cherish it to an unhealty level. Id prolly love it even more if I did it and I know it....sad huh?

Break me off a piece!! I always try and make kids watch Sinbad but they hate it. So no it is what I do to punish them.

I Swear they aren't mine.

That is one hot brush pen... ;) Nice pieces.

Did you have any sort of short animation in mind you wanted to do?

Rade said...

Some great sketches man! It's always a treat to see your latest.

Nice studies on top, Mel!! Great poses and movements, really dynamic. Cool!

YesLand said...

I find your models very expressive and I'm sure animation will be nice with such comprehention of heavy and shape that you have (I hope this last thing had any sense lol)

Hey Mel,
Long time no see. I sure have missed a lot since leaving for Europe. Glad to see you are keeping up the good works. You've been improving as well.
Hugs,
